Dorothy Hanson was born on September 10, 1927 in Marsh Grove Township, Marshall County, MN. She was the daughter of Edward and Ida (Anderson) Hanson. She attended school and grew to adulthood in Marsh Grove Township.
On November 28, 1947 she was united in marriage to Paul Waterworth at Viking, MN. The made their home in Biwabik, MN and Drayton, ND, until 1978, when they moved to Kalona, IA. Paul died February 24, 1983 at Bartsville, OK. Following his death Dorothy moved to Corcoran, MN and then to Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada. On October 9, 1987 she was married to John Dubbledam at Wetaskiwin.

She was the mother of one daughter, Emerald (Emi) Carpenter (Mrs Vern) of Des Moines, IA, and two sons. Ivan Waterworth (Becky) of Corcoran, MN, and Wayne Waterworth, (Trudy) of Florida.

She was one of five children born to Edward and Ida. Sister's Ruth, and Violet are still living. Also her brother Wallace. Her brother Dennis preceded her in death as well as her first husband Paul, and her parents Edward and Ida.

Dorothy was my aunt. I will always remember her love for fancy work. You would find her crocheting, knitting, or working on a embroidery project. She loved her family, her six grandkids, and was blessed with a wonderful musical ability. I will never forget the many conversations around my grandma Ida's kitchen table between Dorothy and her sister's. They would talk Norwegian for hours over a cup of coffee as they had grown up in their home speaking Norwegian before they learned the English language.

Dorothy lost her battle to cancer on October 8, 1989 at Rimbey, Alberta, Canada at the age of 62 yrs and 28 days. May her memory be blessed.
