Doris L. (nee Wonder) Clayton Froning, 86, Rockton died December 28, 2015, at Highview in the Woodlands in Rockton. Born June 4, 1929, in Janesville, WI to Frank and Hazel Wonder, she moved to Rockford in childhood and remained in the Rockford area until her death. Married Ed Froning on December 8, 2007, and was fondly received into his family. Doris worked at J.I. Case until the Rockford plant closed in 1970, then worked at Meridian Implement. Later Doris was employed by Twin Disc until her retirement in 1992. Doris enjoyed home arts including collecting recipes, needle work, quilting and crocheting. She has gifted many treasured pieces to family. Survivors include husband; son and his wife; grandchildren; great- grandchildren; sister-in-law; and several nieces and a nephew. Predeceased by husband, Robert Clayton in 2003; brother, Frank in 2013; and mother, Hazel Wonder in 2014. Burial in Owen Center Cemetery. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday. Published in Rockford Register Star Dec. 31, 2015.
