Arthur Lee "Nubbin" Weaver, 76, longtime Newkirk resident, died Saturday evening, Sept. 2, 2006, in the Newkirk Nursing Center.

The funeral has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, in Miller-Stahl Funeral Chapel with Doyle Houston, Weaver's nephew, officiating. Graveside rites and burial will take place at 1 p.m. in the Fairfax Cemetery. Miller-Stahl Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. The casket will only be open the day of the service.

Arthur Lee Weaver was born April 5, 1930, in Sugar Grove, Ark., the son of George Richard and Ida Ann (Rankins) Weaver. He moved with his family to Fairfax in 1944, and worked for a time for area farmers. In 1970 he moved to Newkirk, where he made his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Lester Bonner.

Nubbin enjoyed whittling and watching the traffic go by his front porch. He also enjoyed being around kids and was known for his generosity to his nephews and nieces, and later his great-nephews and nieces whom he spoiled with gifts such as candy and dollar bills.

Survived by two sisters and a number of nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Bart, Bill, Ray, Odell, Harold, Earl and Irvin; and four sisters, Stella Weaver, Ella Robertson, Jewel Gregory and Agnes Bonner.
