Marilyn Marie Chase, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Marilyn was born December 25, 1937 and was delivered by her father's cousin, Nellie Anderson, in a farmhouse near Harcourt, Iowa. She was the fourth of five children of John Arthur 'Art' Anderson and Edna Louise (Berglund) Anderson.

Marilyn grew up and went to school in or near Harcourt. She was an excellent student and active in many school and church activities including choir, basketball and softball, band, 4H domestic housekeeping (sewing and cooking). Marilyn played the clarinet, and taught herself to play piano (and taught her daughter Brenda to play the piano). She was the class president during both her junior and senior high school years. She was salutatorian at Harcourt High School. Marilyn unselfishly gave up the valedictorian spot to another student so that student could get the scholarship and go to college.

Marilyn was engaged to be married to Vearl John Chase, and had decided to focus on being a housewife after high school. Marilyn married Vearl on June 5, 1955. They moved to California in 1956, and lived in or near the Oxnard area until present.

Throughout her life, Marilyn was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was proud to be a housewife, and enjoyed caring for her home and family. Her greatest joys involved taking care of others. She always put others first before herself. She was very strong and determined, but in a gentle and quiet way. People who knew Marilyn would describe her as generous, kind, devoted, nurturing, patient, meticulous, intelligent, a great homemaker, and a survivor.

Marilyn enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies. She always loved cooking and baking, gardening, fishing, and camping. She had a special talent for arts and crafts including scrap-booking, needlework, and playing the dulcimer that Vearl made for her in 1978.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Laurel and LuVerne Anderson. She is survived by husband, Vearl Chase; children: Jeanne (Chase) Bellone, David Chase, and Brenda (Chase) Dewey; grandchildren: Sonya (Bellone) Bartholomew, Robert Chase, Allissa Chase, and Hunter Chase; great grandchildren: Vanessa (Bartholomew) White and Brandon Bartholomew; sister, Arlene (Anderson) Hintch; brother, Vincent Anderson; and many other friends and relatives who will miss her greatly.
