Robert James "Bob" Travelute, 86, of Morristown, TN died Friday, January 2 in Harrisburg, PA with his beloved family by his side. He was the husband of Ola Bee Barefoot. The couple was married for 53 years.

Born in Rock Springs, WY, he was the son of the late Andrew Willard and Annabel (Dilley) Travelute. In his early years, he attended the University of Wyoming and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and won many awards for the UW Rodeo Team in the calf roping division. Before retiring, Bob was a cattle rancher in Daniel, WY and then a commercial airline pilot for Zantop Air, Overseas National Airways and UPS. He was a long time member of the Air Line Pilots Association and the National Rifle Association. He lived the majority of his life in Rock Springs and Daniel, WY (35 years), Lake Hopatcong, NJ (30 years) and Morristown, TN (20 years). Prior to his passing and with the decline of his health, he moved to Harrisburg, PA to be closer to his daughter.

A man's man, Bob loved hunting, shooting competitively and the great outdoors. Everyone who knew him would agree that he lived life fully. Whether Bob was skiing, snowmobiling, sailing, boating, riding motorcycles, hunting large game, or rebuilding engines, he gave it 100%. He loved adventures and a good laugh. We will miss his quirky grin and mischievous sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter: Christie R. Travelute, MD and his grandchildren: Emma and Nicholas Ammirati. He is also survived by children from his first marriage to Georgia Haas (now deceased): his daughter: Theresa Travelute and her husband Mike Erler; his son: Robin Travelute; his daughter in law: Sarah Travelute; and his sister: Verona Wisniewski and her husband Mel Sherrill. He was preceded in death by his son: Toby P. Travelute; his sister: Valia Hays and his brothers: John and Andrew, Jr.

Bob's family would like to thank the David Rich family of Morristown, TN for their enduring friendship and countless acts of kindness.

Services will be held at a later date and are entrusted to Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC, the honored provider for the Pennsylvania Cremation Society. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Penn State Hershey Department of Dermatology Research Fund or the Jim & Joyce Marks Education Endowment Fund at Penn State Hershey, Office of University Development, Penn State Hershey Medical Center, A120, P.O. Box 852, Hershey PA 17033-0855.
