Mr. Chew, a resident of Woodbury for 17 years, was a personnel officer with the Defense Department. He was a former captain with the Army Reserve and a member of the Selective Service Board in the Auglaize section of St. Marys, Ohio. Mr. Chew was a member of the Glassboro Masonic Lodge and a past commander of American Legion Post 179 of Clayton.
Survivors: his wife, Ruth M.; a son, Joseph Wayne of Wenonah; a daughter, Jane Nowicki of Cumming, Ga.; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Services: viewing, 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Barclay Funeral Home, Broad and Maple Streets, Clayton; Masonic services, 8 p.m. tomorrow, at the funeral home; funeral, noon Monday, at the funeral home; burial, Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
