WILLIAMSBURG - Ira Leslie Krams died on December 8, 2015, at his home in Historic Yorktown, with his wife by his side. He was born on May 25, 1934 in Passaic, NJ, and moved to Corpus Christi, TX as a child. He was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Irene Krams. Ira was the beloved husband of Beverly Cooke Krams. He is also survived by his two sons, Jeffrey P. Krams (Cheryl), David L. Krams (Amy); step-son, Robert S. Hansford; grandchildren, Jamie Krams, Gena Krams, Bryan Krams, and Sara Hansford; his brother, S. Warren Krams (Mitzi). A special cousin Karen Krams, other cousins and friend, Agnes Tharrington. He especially loved his Coast Guard Comrades and their spouses. He was a graduate of The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Class of 1955. He retired after 20 years of military service. He was an Engineering Manager specializing in Marine Aids to Navigation. He received a Civil Engineering Degree, with honors, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He also attended Columbia University. He was a U.S. Patent Holder for Solar Energy. A Charter member of James City County Rotary Club. He was also a former Boy Scout Leader. An Honorary member of the Green Spring Garden Club. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 10:30-11:30 AM following by a Service at 11:30 AM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove, 809 South Henry Street, Williamsburg, VA. In Ira's honor, the family requests that this holiday season you can do a random act of kindness for a person in need or make a donation to the Bethel Temple, 600 Jamestown Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
