Jerry Garland Abernethy, age 80, of Evant, Texas passed away in Temple, Texas on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
Jerry was born on November 28, 1935 in Donley County, Texas to Louie Hopkins and Verna Henrietta Gammon Abernethy.
Jerry has been a Farmer, an oil consultant, leveled houses and also was a dirt ccntractor in the Evant area for many years
Mr. Abernethy was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Katherine Calcote, Currie Dell Bliss and Phyllis Shelton; and a brother, Kenneth Louie Abernethy.
Jerry is survived by his wife Linda Abernethy of Evant, TX; three sons, Scott Wayne Abernethy of Canadian, TX, David Garland and wife Pam Abernethy of Hutto, TX; Donald Robert Abernethy of Lakeway, TX; one daughter Angela Vivian Abernethy of Amarillo, TX, and one step-daughter Lisa Suzanne Snitker of Leander, TX; six grandchildren Crystal Lynn and husband Brandon Coon, Lindsay Marie and husband Tyler Beaty, Jerrott Wayne Abernethy, Amanda Lee Abernethy, Tyler Matthew Abernethy, and Gracy Elaine Thompson; and two great grandchildren Ethan Daniel Puerta and Everly Coon. He is also survived by his siblings Joann Simmons, Barbara Vines, Aliene Mills, Vernal Thomas and Cherry Hall.
Visitation is being held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Riley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church at 235 N. US Highway 281 Evant, TX 76525.
Burial will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery Evant, TX. Pallbearers will be Scott Wayne Abernethy, David Garland Abernethy, Donald Robert Abernethy, Angela Vivian Abernethy, Jerrott Wayne Abernethy and Tyler Matthew Abernethy.
