YAPLE E.SMITH 81, formerly of Lansing, died Thurs in Holland where he had been living for the past year and a half. An Ingham County native, he was a retired employee of Novo Pump Co & had lived there at 1829 Olds Ave. Mr.Smith was a veteran of WWI and had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #701 & Barracks #235, Veterans of WWI. Surviving are his wife Neva, a dau, Mrs Virginia Lakies of Holland, a son, Bud F.Smith of Birmingham; 6 grandchildren & 2 greats, a sister, Mrs. Mornamae Risdon of Fowlerville. Services on Monday at Gorsline-Runciman, with burial at Greenwood Cem in Fowlerville.

Born May 11, 1886 in Ingham County, Mr Smith was life-time resident of Lansing & vicinity until moving to Holland one & half years ago. He retired from Novo Engine Co, a veteran of WWI, a member of VFW post 701, member of Barracks #235, Veterans of WWI. Surviving are wife, Neva Maud, dau Mrs.Kenneth (Virginia)Lakies, of Holland & son, Bud F.Smith of Birmingham, 6 grandchildren & 2 greats, one sister, Mrs. Mornamae Risdon of Fowlerville. Body will be at Dykstra Funeral Home in Holland. Services at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral home, with Rev.Glenn E.Carpenter, officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cem in Fowlerville.

NOTE: The daughter, Virginia, was adopted by Yaple when he m. to Maud, as the girl was hers by her 1st marriage.
