Civil War Veteran. Served as Quartermaster Sergeant with Company M, 4th Regiment Pennsylvania Cavalry. The 4th participated in the Battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorville, Brandy Station, Gettysburg & Yellow Tavern. The 4th was present at Appomattox Court House during the surrender.
