Mrs. Rita E. Bancroft, 62, of Auburn died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Hospital.
Born in Illinois, Mrs. Bancroft was formerly employed as a sales clerk by Harry's Pharmacy in Auburn. She was also employed by Franklin Life Insurance Co., St. John's Hospital and Springfield Clinic.
She was a member of St. Benedict's Church, Auburn; Altar and Rosary Society and the St. Francis Light of Love Community, Riverton. She was past president of the St. Ann's Club in Auburn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard H., in 1981 and by one daughter, Barbara K. Long, in 1973.
Surviving are two sons, Edward B. Bancroft and Lawrence I. Bancroft both of Auburn; two daughters, Rita Ann Kopjo of Plainville and Bernice "Bee" Sweet of Virden; three sisters, Regina Quinn of Woodridge, Rosemary Dixon of Auburn and Joann Kirchgesner of Springfield; 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict's Church, Auburn, with the Rev. James Kondrath officiating. Burial will be in the Virden Cemetery, Virden.
Berry Funeral Home, Auburn, is in charge of arrangements.
