Bernard H. Bancroft

Bernard Henry Bancroft, 61, of Auburn did at 7:25 a.m. Monday at St John's Hospital North.
He was born in Auburn, the son of the late Isaac Russell Bancroft and Louise Conradena Schmidt. Before retirement in 1975, Mr. Bancroft was employed by Fiat-Allis Manufacturing Co. in the Heat Treatment Labor Division. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Kay Long in 1973 and two brothers, Paul and Lloyd.
Mr. Bancroft was a member of St. Benedict's Church, Auburn, UAW Local 1027, Virden Knights of Columbus 2321, St. Francis Light of Love Community, Riverton.
A former precinct committeeman of Precinct 1 in Auburn, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Rita (Molohon); two daughters, Mrs. Rita Ann Kopjo of Joliet, and Mrs. Bernice "Bee" Sweet of Virden; two sons, Edward Bernard Bancroft and Lawrence Isaac Bancroft, both of Auburn; on sister, Mrs. Carl (Marie) Jacobs of Rochester and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict's Church, Auburn, and burial will be in Virden Cemetery.
Berry Funeral Home, Auburn, is in charge of arrangements.
