Jazz Musician. Born Walter Ferguson, he was a trumpeter and bandleader who is probably best known for playing lead trumpet in Bill Conti's song "Gonna Fly Now", which was featured in the movie "Rocky" (1976). A native of Montreal, Canada, he was a member of the Stan Kenton Orchestra. Prior to that he worked with such Jazz greats as Charlie Barnet and Jimmy Dorsey. In 1957, Ferguson formed his own band and recorded many albums including, "Carnival". In addition to "Rocky", Ferguson also performed on the soundtrack for the film "The Ten Commandments" (1956).
