Peter Harold Hove was born on April 4, 1939, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, the son of Reinhart Hove and Johanne Marie Johannessen. He had one sister, Ragnhild (Hove) Berglund, who was a year older than Peter. He served his country as a Private First Class in the US Army. Peter died on 24 January 2012, at the age of 72.

After three years of "sitting on-the-shelf", his unclaimed cremains were found in the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office in Tacoma. After establishing proof of his military service to the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, he was approved for interment at Tahoma National Cemetery. He was laid to rest with full honors on 14 March 2015.
