Bob was born March 10, 1930 in Detroit to Hugh and Paula (Mann) Joiner. He married Arlene J. (Artz) on Oct. 2, 1954 in Detroit. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He resided at Higgins Lake, summers since 1953 and fulltime since 1985, coming from Detroit.
Mr. Joiner retired as a sergeant from the Detroit Police Dept. in 1985 with 32 years of service.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Roscommon and a lifetime member of Charles M. Engel VFW Post 4159 in Roscommon. He helped with the breakfasts, Flag Honor Guard and Burial Detail.
He enjoyed bowling, golf, and walking his dogs. He had been a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Grayling and Roscommon County Meals on Wheels. He had been a deacon at Mr. Calvary Lutheran Chuch in Detroit.
Surviving are his wife, Arlene; two children, Linda Joiner of Clinton Twp. and David (Sue) Joiner of Redford; three grandchildren, Rachel, Amanda and Caitlin; and three great-grandchildren, Dreygon, Jayden and Claira.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, D.J.; and great-grandson, Colton.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date. He was buried in Gerrish Township Cemetery.
