Gloria Jean Hudson, 79, of Madison, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
She was born March 29, 1927, in Madison, and was the daughter of William Edward and Evelyn May Phillips Smith.
She was a secretary at Morgan Packing Company for many years. She was a member of St. John's Church of Christ and the Step by Step King's Daughters' Circle. She enjoyed dancing, especially clogging and the jitterbug.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Garrett of Madison and Edna Doris Staples of Bedford, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Durward Eugene Hudson, whom she married March 4, 1950; and three nephews.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with burial at the Springdale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the St. John's United Church of Christ building fund. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
