"Body of Dentist Is Returned From Chicago.
The body of Dr. Edgar S. Lucas, aged 53, South Bend dentist, was brought this morning to his home at 1234 East Ewing avenue from Jackson Park hospital in Chicago, where he died at11:35 p.m. Monday after three months' illness with a liver ailment. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Matthew's Roman Catholic church. Rev. Leon K. Hazinski, of Wells, Minn., a brother-in-law of Dr. Lucas, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Polish cemetery.

Dr. Lucas had practiced dentistry here since graduating in 1911 from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery, now affiliate[d] with the Loyola university. He was a graduate of the Central Senior High school here and spent most of his life in South Bend. Born here July 19, 1884, he lived for about eight years in Montana, where he owned a ranch. He was married Aug. 2, 1924 in St. Hedwige's Roman Catholic church to Miss Martha Hazinski.

Surviving besides the widow are a son, Edgar George, at home; and two brothers, Dr. Robert F. Lucas, South Bend, and Dr. George M. Lucas, Chicago. The body may be viewed in the home. Dr. Lucas was a member of St. Matthew's church, South Bend Council No. 553, Knights of Columbus; Holy Name and St. Vincent de Paul societies of St. Matthew's parish, the Elks lodge and St. Joseph County Dental Society."
