MRS. A. G. LYONS
Atlanta G. Hatfield was born at Camden, N. J., November 8, 1840, and died at the home of her son, Samuel M. Lyons, in Beaver City, Nebr., May 9, 1923, being at the time of her death 82 years, 6 months and 1 day old. In the fall of 1865 she came to Grinnell, Iowa, where she met, and on September 5, 1867 was united in marriage to Capt. W. W. Lyons. To this union was born four children, one daughter and three sons. The husband and daughter have preceded the mother to the home over there, the daughter, Malisia Agnes going November 28, 1898, and the husband July 28, 1902. Two sons, W. E. and Charles A. Lyons, live at Loveland, Colo., and Samuel M. Lyons lives in Beaver City. Eleven grandchildren also were given to her to bless her years on earth.
In 1872, together with her husband she confessed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was buried with him in Christian baptism and placed her membership in the Baptist church. All through her life she clung to her faith in the Christ ad her last act on this earth was to read a portion from His holy book.
Thus has come the end of a life of long years well spent, for no one could be in her presence without realizing that they were in the presence of one who believed in the Christ and who desired above all things to uphold the highest ideals.
Funeral services were held at the home of S. M. Lyons, in Beaver City, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. B. Young, of the Christian church and Rev. W. S. Porter, of the M. E. church and the remains were accompanied to the old home at Hastings for burial in the family lot.
