Lillian Helen Wood

Lillian Helen Wood, 76, of 13770 Center Road, Traverse City, died Sunday at Munson Medical Center after a brief illness.
The daughter of John and Mary Lardie, [s]he was born in Peninsula Township on May 14, 1899 and was an Old Mission Peninsula resident her entire life. She was married to Stanley W. Wood on June 9, 1919.
She was a member of St. Joesph's Catholic Church, Mapleton, and Traverse City Court 1391, Catholic Daughters of America, and Bower's Harbor Senior Woman's Club.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley on Dec 17, 1960; and a son John G in infancy. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Elizabeth) Fitzgerald, Mrs. William (Nellie) Pitcher, Mrs. Merlin (Donna) Lewis, all of Traverse City, and Mrs. Anthony (Barbara) Scarpelli of Oakbrook, Ill.; Five sons, Stanley I. of Suttonsbay, George C. of Ft. Worth, Tex., Francis E. of Old Mission, James C. of Cheboygan and D. Thomas of Traverse City; 36 Grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister Mrs. Arnold (Loretta) White of Old Mission Peninsula.
The funeral mass is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Linus Schrems officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family and the Catholic Daughters will recite a rosary Tuesday evening at 8 at Martinson Funeral Home, where friends may call.
Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Heart Association or American Cancer Society; mass cards are available at the funeral home.
