John Amos Pearson was the son of Thomas and Tamar Pearson. He was a Saior on the (Dutch) merchant ship Laertes when it was torpedoed and sunk off the coast of Florida, USA, on May 3, 1942. German submarine U-109 was responsible, and Mr. Pearson was one of 18 men who died as a result. He was 27 years old.
