Margaret Akers, age 82, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday the 10th of October, 2015 at the home of her daughter, Dusty Lilljedahl.



Margaret Ann Reed was born in Snyder, Texas to Dale R. Reed and Roberta Mae Brunett. She was the youngest sibling of one sister and four brothers. Her father was a cotton farmer and horse trader. Their family was always close and loving. Margaret attended elementary school in Snyder. Her family moved to Dallas where she attended Woodrow Wilson High. In her youth she spent summer vacations with an aunt and uncle in Snyder. There she learned to pick cotton, sew, quilt, and churn butter by hand.



She met World War II veteran, Bill Akers, at Percy’s drugstore in Dallas. They were married over 50 years, prior to his death in 2003.



Margaret is survived by her six children Sandy, Dusty, Beverly, Rusty, Dale and Bill as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
