Virginia Catherine Henley, 100, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in Greenville, S.C. Born in Bedford County, Va. September 4, 1915 to Mary Layne Howard and David Royal Howard. She grew up on a farm with seven siblings.She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Roy Henley; and her oldest son, Gerald (Jerry) Wayne Henley; two sisters, Frances Turner, Janie Hamilton, and four brothers, Louis, Warren, George and Everett Howard.She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Henley (Jackie) of Timonium, Md., Gregory Henley (Janet) of Clinton, S.C.; two daughters, Catherine Wallenborn and Nancy DeBusk both of Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Elizabeth Harris of Richmond, Va.;14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.Virginia was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted wife and mother known for her hospitality, cooking, sewing and immaculate housekeeping. She enjoyed cooking for her family and playing bridge.A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, October 10, 2015 in the chapel of Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Va. with interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
