CRAWLEY Charles William: D.C.M., 208, Serjeant, Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment), 1st/7th Bn. Husband of Rebecca Ann Crawley, of 4, Dunkirk Rd., Old Lenton, Nottingham. His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal to the undermentioned Warrant Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Men, for acts of gallantry and devotion to duty whilst serving with the Expeditionary Forces in France and Flanders and in Mesopotamia. 208 Serjeant C. W. Crawley, l/7th (Robin Hood) Battalion, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment, T.F.
For conspicuous gallantry near Ypres on the night of 30th-31st July, 1915, when, with the assistance of four others, he brought in over 20 wounded men of another Regiment and several of his own under artillery and rifle fire. These wounded men were lying out in front of a new trench which had been dug during the night.

Sergt W. Crawley, of the Robin Hoods, was killed in France on the 13th inst. He was recently awarded the D.C.M. he was a Boston man, and one our volunteers who went through the Boer War. His wife's parents live at Drainside North, North Terrace.
