Roger Sheppard Howell, Jr., age 92, of Blairsville and Marietta, GA, passed away on June 17, 2013. He was born March 4, 1921, in Atlanta, GA, to Roger and Beryl Howell, Sr., and attended Georgia Institute of Technology before joining the Army Air Corps where he served as a pilot during WWII. When the War ended, he returned from Italy and enrolled at the University of NC in Chapel Hill, where he earned his Bachelor's degree and did graduate work in Psychology. He then returned to Georgia, taking a job at Lockheed, where he was employed until he retired. He married Lois Buena Musgrove in 1951.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lois Howell, and his sister and brother-in-law, Anne H. Long and Ken Long. He is survived by a daughter, Joy Howell Breedlove of Blairsville, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger Eugene "Gene" and Angela Davy Howell of Marietta, GA; grandchildren Melissa and Nathan Adams, Billy Breedlove, Anna Breedlove, Gene Howell, Jr.; great-granddaughter Eva Adams; niece Christy Long Miller, and nephew David Long, David's wife Nancy,and their sons, Adam and Ben Long. He was a member of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris, GA.
