Lloyd Wesley Poulson, Sr., son of the late Glenn Orby and Ethelene Marie (Robertson) Poulson was born November 21, 1939 in Waynesville, Missouri, and departed this life on Sunday, October 4, 2015 in the Osage Beach Health and Rehab Center of Osage Beach, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 13 days.


On December 16, 1971 at First Baptist Church in Swedeborg, Missouri, Lloyd was united in marriage to Barbara Faye York and to this union one daughter and one son were born.


On October 22, 2006, Lloyd professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Swedeborg, Missouri. He loved his church and church family. He attended church faithfully until his health wouldn't permit him to do so.


Lloyd served in the United States Army from April 15, 1960 to April 5, 1972 (Honorably Discharged). He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, 2 OS Bars and Expert M16.


Lloyd was employed as a truck driver for many years for Ed Zeigenbein. Lloyd purchased his own dump truck and was self-employed for many years where he hauled for Howard Ready Mix and other companies and individuals. He continued to truck until 2002 when he was diagnosed with diabetes and macular degeneration and wasn't able to drive anymore.


He had a passion for watching asphalt racing at I-44 Speedway, watching NASCAR and attending Truck & Tractor Pulls. He loved going to church, and spending time with his family and friends.


Lloyd is survived by his wife: Barbara Poulson of the home; one daughter: Kristy Shepherd, of Meta, MO; one son: Lloyd, Jr. "Wes" and his wife, Libby, of Swedeborg, MO; one sister: Donna Zeigenbein of St. Robert, MO; one brother: Eddie Poulson and his wife, Mary of Crocker, MO; four grandsons: Tyler Shepherd of Meta, MO, and Kaleb, Oliver and Noah Poulson of Swedeborg, MO; one granddaughter: Tiffany Shepherd of Meta, MO; a host of other relatives and many, many friends.


He is preceded in death by his parents. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed and remembered by all of his family and friends.


Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Doug Jacobson officiating. The songs "Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone" by Chris Tomlin and "Daddy's Hands" by Holly Dunn were played. Serving as escorts were Lloyd Poulson, Jr., Vic Walters, Nathan Fagre, Tim Ellis, Charles Boren and Ross Reinhart.


Burial with military honors followed in the Antioch Cemetery of Crocker, Missouri. Military honors were provided by the Missouri Honors Team.
