James Royden Carpenter, Jr., 81, of Townville, peacefully left this earth to the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from his home.

He was born at home on February 17, 1934 in Townville, PA, the second child of James Royden and Martha Sayre Carpenter. He married Kathleen E. Wright on October 20, 1956. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2012.

Jim graduated from Townville High School in 1952, attended Penn State, and served in the Army for two years, one of them stationed in France. He worked for his uncle at Rex Carpenter Packing Company in Townville, buying livestock for 17 years. He then became an area salesman for the Young’s Company and subsequently with Agri-King for a total of 35 years. He was known for striking up a conversation with any and everyone. Jim served on the board for Kingsley Cemetery since 1987. He also served 23 years on the board of directors for the Northwest Rural Electric Cooperative. Despite a massive heart attack, sextuple bypass surgery, and a stroke almost 13 years ago, he was a walking miracle who enjoyed life to its fullest. His grand and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life! Even up until the week before his homegoing, he enjoyed visiting and chatting with folks at the local nursing homes. Over the years he has served in various capacities at local churches where his favorite activity was helping with the AWANA Cubbies program at Lyona Bible Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Carl) McAdams of Townville and Christine Carpenter (Steve) Billman of Townville; two sons, Jeffrey (Debbie) Carpenter of Meadville and Mark (Shari) Carpenter of Spring Creek; a daughter-in-Christ, Soledad (Renan) Carias of Miami, FL; a son-in-Christ, Victor Morehead of Meadville, one sister, Dorothy Porter of West Springfield; a sister-in-law, Twila Carpenter of Meadville; fourteen grandchildren, Caleb McAdams, Jessica (Don) Spragg, Rachael (DJ) Shaw, Jenna (Adam) Thiessen, Mollie (Wesley) Wood, Cassandra, Kelsey, and Casey (Danielle) Carpenter, Ashley (Jacob) Giangiordano, Alissa (Timothy) Rega, Joshua, Katelyn, Lindsey, and James Carpenter; and twelve great-grandchildren, Sophie Spragg, Kersten Nageotte, Henry and Aunna Shaw, Wyatt, Daniel, Cole, and Jeannette Thiessen, Trinity and Violet Karges, Tommy Wood, Alissa Rega, and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
