Archie E. Carnes, 84, of 510 Wabash, was dead on arrival at Ottumwa Hospital at 8:01 p.m. March 19.
Born March 3, 1897, in Missouri to William and Jane Loperman Carnes, he retired from John Morrell and Co. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He married Ethel H. Gates Dec. 23, 1920, in Ottumwa.
Survivors: his wife; sons Donald and Bernard of Ottumwa and Raymond of Des Moines; daughters Betty Kinney of Ottumwa, Frances Severs of Des Moines, Darlene Summers of Fort Collins, Colo., and Sandra Brooks of Bloomfield; 30 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and brothers James and Harry of Ottumwa.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at his church, the Revs. Marion Dodson and Tommy Brunk officiating. Burial: Shaul Cemetery.
The casket will be taken from Johnson Funeral Chapel to the church at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
