Surgeon, 6th Regiment, United States Infantry. He died while posted at Fort Armstrong, Rock Island, Illinois, and was buried in the Fort cemetery. The cemetery was destroyed during construction of a a railroad embankment to the Government Bridge in 1869-1872. There is now a monument to his memory about 700 yard northeast of the former cemetery location. He also served at other frontier posts, and was a member of Colonel Henry Atkinson's expedition to the mouth of the Yellowstone River in 1825.
