HOPEDALE ~ Margaret Marie Ahten, 58, of 5717 Townhall Road, passed away at 3:55 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2005 at Sharon Elms Health Care in Peoria.

Born June 7, 1947 in Peoria, she was the daughter of Wilmer D. and Elaine H. (Groenhagen) Spracklen. She married Kenneth William Ahten, Sr. on July 2, 1967 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Elaine H. of Pekin; one daughter, Elaine M. of Pekin; one son, Kenneth Jr. of Hopedale; four brothers, James C. (Audrey) of Pekin, William and Gerald, both of Williamsfield, and Charles of Peoria; and three sisters, Patricia, Marilyn, and Linda (Robert), all of Peoria.

Her father, three brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.

A homemaker, Margaret had worked at Hopedale Medical Complex in the dietary department for several years.

She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in rural Pekin, where she had volunteered in the church kitchen and was a member of the Dorcas Society.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Ralph E. Ogden will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
