"Benson" is not correct. This was because his name is spelled "Benson" in Volume 9, p. 205 in the Official Roster of Ohio Soldiers. His name was "John W. Beason." In all other records, including U.S. Census listings, his surname appears as "Beason." He is in Section: H. Row or Tier: 14. Grave: 8 at the Ohio

Enlisted; May 2, 1864. Mustered out; Sept. 1, 1864.
