Harvey LeRoy Paul, 58, died of heart failure 4:17 Sunday morning, February 20, 2005, at Veterans Hospital, Roseburg, Oregon. Roy was born January 8, 1947, in Casper, Wyoming, the youngest son of Harvey LaVerne Paul, a construction worker on Kortes Dam in the 1940's, and Tressie May Kissick. Tressie, who died in 1993, was a Wyoming native and step-daughter of John Emil Judson Barnum of the Barnum pioneers in Johnson Co., Wyoming.

Roy attended Mills Elementary School and Natrona County High School before enlisting in the U. S. Navy. He followed a 20-year naval career that included two years on the USS Yorktown with service in the Vietnam War.

He was first married to Carla Ann Davidshofer and later divorced. Carla was the mother of Roy's only son, Edward LaVerne Paul. On July 4, 1993, Roy married Ann Louise (Flynn) Zachary in Reno, Nevada. Roy's passions for his pets and for travel, photography, and gardening were happily shared with friends and family. He is missed by us all.

Roy ws survived by his step-fathers Edward David Vickery [since deceased]of Casper, Wyoming, and Mark Van Dyke Rudoff of Reno, Nevada; by his wife, Ann Louise (Flynn) Paul of Roseburg, Oregon; by his son, Edward LaVerne Paul of Cheyenne, Wyoming; by his brothers, William LaVerne Paul of Dublin, Republic of Ireland, and Jackie Dean Paul of Reno, Nevada; by his grandchildren, Krystal Marie Paul, Mikel Damian Paul, and Jacob LeRoy Paul; by his step-grandchildren Kierra Michelle Karn and Brenden Amiotte; and by numerous nephews and nieces. Surviving also is Roy's navy buddy and Yorktown veteran, best friend, and first cousin, Aaron Jerrold Wayne of Inglewood, California. Locally, Roy is also survived by his cousins, Lula May (Barnum) Bain and David Edward Williams, and by his aunt, Agnes Christine (Moore) Williams, all of Casper.

Roy is also survived by his father, Harvey LaVerne Paul of Porter, Indiana [since deceased].

At Roy's request, his remains were cremated and one-half scattered privately in Garden Creek Falls at the base of Casper Mountain, Natrona Co., Wyoming, and one-half taken by his widow and interred in Fayetteville National Cemetery at Fayetteville, Washington Co., Arkansas.
