Born Mary Margaret Flaherty, daughter of Timothy and Margaret (Durant) Flaherty.

Graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston.

Entered the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1927 from St. William's Church in Dorchester, MA.

Elementary-school teacher for 35 years in Notre Dame schools in Massachusetts - including 12 years at St. Mary's School in Shrewsbury.
