Mass will be celebrated this afternoon for Indian Wells resident Mary Smith Vandeweghe, who died Tuesday in Indian Wells. Mrs Vandeweghe was a native of Long Island. N Y She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, life member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter 453 in New York and the Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells Mrs. Vandeweghe is survived by her husband. Ernest Vandeweghe of Indian Wells: two sons, Ernest Vandeweghe Jr., and Gary Vandeweghe, both of California; two daughters. Diane Sealamandre of New York and Charlotte Scott of Arizona; a brother, Kenneth Smith of New York; and 12 grandchildren. Mass will be said 1 p.m. at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in La Quinta. Burial will be at Coachella Valley Cemetery. The family requests no flowers be sent.
