WINSTON-SALEM - Edward James Waters, 78, passed away on Thursday, January 16 at Arbor Acres Retirement Community. Mr. Waters was born on December, 1, 1935 in Arlington, N.J to Angela and Joseph Waters. His parents moved him and his nine siblings to Burlington, N.C in 1946. Mr. Waters then went to school at Saint Meinrad Seminary School, in St. Meinrad, IN, where he studied and became a catholic priest. His priesthood gave him the opportunity to work in the Catholic Church for 25 years. Mr. Waters then moved to Winston Salem, where he worked as an accountant for 25 years for GMAC insurance. He was a devote member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Mr. Waters is preceded in death by his parents and older sisters and brother. He is survived by four brothers, Joe, Gene, Al, and Bob, and a sister Rosemary Pagura. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 21, at 10:00 a.m at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 1730 Link Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina Chapter,3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
