WINSTON-SALEM - Veronica B. Jacinto, 75, of Winston-Salem- an inspiring mother and grandmother, a devoted wife, and a cherished friend- gracefully passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Born in Baguio City, Philippines, she was preceded in death by her parents, Cresencio and Concepcion Balbuena Bambao, her husband, Dr. Romulo C. Jacinto (2001), and her brother, Leo Bambao. Veronica was a physics and mathematics teacher at St. Bridget's College, Batangas, Philippines and New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM. She earned a B.S. in Education from St. Bridget's College, an M.A. in Mathematics from Ataneo de Manila University, Philippines, and an M.A. in Counseling and Guidance from New Mexico State University. Veronica was a prolific artist in all forms of mixed-media. Flowers, butterflies, and birds made her spirit sing and face dance with animated smiles. Her favorite daily exercise was prayer time. She was an active parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Winston-Salem and Holy Family Catholic Church, Clemmons. Surviving are four children and one grandson: Romel Jacinto of San Francisco, CA, Kathryn Jacinto of Boston, MA, Randy Jacinto and wife Katherine and their 12-month old son Everett Cruz Jacinto of Berkeley, CA, Christine Jacinto of Palo Alto, CA; three sisters: Nora Libid of Manila, Philippines, Mercedes Bambao of Delano, CA, Vicky Leal of San Lorenzo, CA; six brothers: Ben Bambao of Castro Valley, CA, Jess Balbuena of San Diego, CA, Alan Bambao of southern CA, Luis Bambao of Baguio City, Philippines, Jun Balbuena of San Diego, CA, and Alex Bambao who is on active duty in the U.S. Army. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 11 at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home on Reynolda Road with a rosary at 4:30 P.M. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the community at Brighton Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either St. Leo the Great Catholic School or the Arts Council of Winston-Salem.
