PFAFFTOWN - Mrs. Helen Welch, 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, May 21, 2003, at her home. She was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Arthur and Inez Eggers. She married her husband, Raymond Welch April 12, 1947, in Brooklyn. She was a very loving and dearly-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Mrs. Welch was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Winston-Salem. Surviving are her husband, Raymond Welch; her brother, Arthur Eggers; six children, Robert Welch, Kathleen Welch, Patricia Brown and her husband, Charles, Arthur Welch, Eileen Bollinger and her husband, Bert and John Welch and his wife, Leslie. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Michael and Maryanne Atkinson, Charles, Lauren and Jessica Brown, Christine and Megan Bollinger, Lucas and Joshua Welch and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends and relatives at Vogler Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem Friday, May 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, 333 Springdale Ave., Winston-Salem. Cremains will be interred in St. Leo's Columbarium at a brief interment service Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill), 4265 Brownsboro Road, Suite 100, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
