Paul Anthony Homier Sr., 84, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Temperance, Mich., on July 6, 1923, the son of the late Henry J. and Martha Exner Homier. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a naval aviator. Mr. Homier graduated from Fordham University. As a research chemist, he was credited with many patents in the non-woven textile industry. He managed non-woven plants in Fairfax, Ala., and Easley, S.C. He was owner and CEO of American Textile Machinery Co. in Athens, Ga., before retiring. Mr. Homier was a longtime member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church where he served as a church usher for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club and attained emeritus status in the American Chemical Society. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Homier was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth O' Shea Homier; and a sister and brother, Fran H. Shausten and Harold J. Homier of Toledo, Ohio. Surviving are his two children, Margo H. and husband Robert M. Cox Sr. of Winston-Salem and Paul A. Homier Jr. and wife Catherine of Lutz, Fla.; five grandchildren, Robert M. Cox Jr. and Stefanie S. Cox of Winston-Salem; Ryan M. Homier of Auburn, Ala.; Kelly Jo Homier of Lutz; and Tony A. Homier and wife, Michelle of Canton, Ga.; a great-grandchild, Riley D. Homier; and a sister, Marge H. Jewson of Toledo. A private memorial Mass for family and friends at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church followed by inurnment at St. Leo' s Columbarium will be scheduled at a later date.
