Mr. Edward “Ed” Michael, 57, of Winston-Salem, N.C., passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at his home.

He was born June 23, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. to Lloyd Edward and Isabell H. McElfresh.

Mr. McElfresh was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. He enjoyed being with his family for all of their sporting events. He also enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and reading. He was very proud of the fact that both of his children are in college for engineering degrees, as he was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. McElfresh was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 23 years of service. He most recently worked for Oracle Packing Company as Engineering Manager. Prior to moving to Winston-Salem, he held engineering positions at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Blaw-Knox Mill, Wheeling, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Surviving are his loving wife of 25 years, Dawn M. McElfresh; one daughter, Shannon McElfresh; one son, Ryan McElfresh, all of the home; his mother, Isabell of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.; one sister, Darlene Wiltrout and husband, Bob, of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.; two brothers, Rich McElfresh and wife, Jan, of Murfreesboro, and Jim McElfresh of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.; and a very special and dear golden retriever, Toby.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel in Winston-Salem.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with Father Brian Cook officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060 or AARF, 311 Harvey Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
