Philadelphia Inquirer-May 10, 1878-Fatal Accident-A Prominent Citizen of Harrisburg Thrown from a Carriage and Killed
Harrisburg, Pa., May 9.-Daniel D. Boas, a prominent and wealthy citizen of this place, was killed almost instantly this evening by being thrown from his carriage. Mr. Boas and S. Boyd Martin, county commissioner, were returning from the former's country residence, when in turning the corner of Front and Maclay streets, the carriage was overturned by the wheel striking a stone, and the occupants were thrown out. The box of the vehicle struck Mr. Boas in the temple, causing concussion of the brain, from which he died shortly after reaching home.
