John H. Slone, well known citizen of south Miller County, passed away at his home in the Alder Springs community east of Iberia last Friday.
He suffered an attack of flu which developed into pneumonia from which he failed to rally. His first wife and four children preceded him in death several years ago.
John H. Slone was born November 1st, 1861, died March 23rd,
1934. At the time of his death he was 72 years, 4 months and 22 days old.
He accepted Christ as his savior while young in life and lived a true Christian life, with his membership with the Church of Christ at Alder Springs at the time of his death. He was a kind and loving father and husband.
He was married to Miss Malinda Null in 1881, and to this union thirteen children were born, of which nine are living. His wife and four children preceded him to the great beyond years ago. Those living are, namely: Rector Slone, Mrs. Albert Baker, and Mrs. Archie Boyce, all of Kansas City; Mrs. Harve Fielder and Mrs. Walter Fielder of Springfield, Mo.; Claud Slone of Wilsonville, Nebraska, and Ray Slone of Dixon, Mo.; Elmer Slone and Mrs. Jewell Hawkins of Tuscumbia, Mo.
Later he was married to Mrs. Sarah Rowden July 11, 1919. He
leaves to mourn his passing his aged companion, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, also aged father, seven brothers, one sister and a host of relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by one and all. He made
friends wherever he went. In his last words he said he was well satisfied.
