Mr. Lonnie C. Bennett, Sr., 57, of Oceanside, CA, died Friday, January 18, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in San Diego, CA. A native of Hamburg and a resident of Oceanside for the past 25 years, he was a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a retired heavy equipment operator; and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Deda McGraw Bennett; two sisters, Evelyn Sanders & Edna Springer and a brother, W.D. Bennett.
He is survived b a son, Lonnie C. Bennett, Jr. of Oceanside, CA; two brothers, James Springer of Cleveland, Ohio, and Doyle Bennett of Freeport, TX; a sister, Billie Bulloch of Dumas and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, January 25, at Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Pallbearers are to be Jimmy Blankenship, Stacy Patton, Cade Bennett, James & Calton Hall and James Bulloch.
Interment will follow services at the Cleveland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Arkansas Affiliate, Inc., PO Box 1610, Little Rock, AR 72203.
