PEKIN ~ Lucy Ina Leslie, 91, of 444 South Parkway Drive, Apartment 802, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2006 at her home. She was formerly of 308 Fairlane Avenue in Pekin.
Born August 16, 1914 in Norris City to John Robert and Daisy A. (Sutton) McGill, she married John Millen Leslie on June 3, 1933 in Norris City. He died November 2, 1999 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister (Joyce Goforth), and three brothers (Paul, Carl, and Orville McGill).
Surviving are two sons, Richard M. "Rich" (Jan) Leslie of Tremont and John S. (Lorie) Leslie of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Donna S. (James) Greener and June K. (Melvin) Behrends, both of Pekin; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles L. (Betty) McGill of Pekin.
Lucy was a homemaker.
The last living charter member of Pekin Bible Church, Lucy was a member of the Mary Martha Circle. She had served her church as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was a volunteer for Rural Home Missionary Association.
Lucy was very faithful to her church.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2006 at Pekin Bible Church. The Rev. Richard W. Jones and Rev. Harold L. Longenecker will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and also 30 minutes before the funeral Monday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
