Born January 25, 1928 in South Pekin to George and Mary (Millich) Morsch, he married Hazel Ann Bierman on August 5, 1956 in Centralia.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Michael Morsch of North Wales, Pennsylvania and Matthew (Paula) Morsch of Morton; 1 daughter, Cassandra (Mark) Gambetti of Pekin; 6 grandchildren; 1 sister, Mildred (Andy) Schott of Mapleton; and 4 brothers, Paul "Pancho" Morsch and Bill (Phyllis) Morsch, both of Pekin, Emil (Dorothy) Morsch of Argenta, and Richard "Chuck" Morsch of Savannah, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, Timothy Morsch; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers.
Ed served as superintendent of Rankin School District #98 in rural Pekin and later, Spring Lake School District #606, for a total of 35 years, retiring in 1987.
A graduate of Illinois State University, he received his Bachelor's Degree in 1951 and his Master's degree in 1959.
He played baseball at ISU, was drafted by the Chicago Cubs, and remained an avid Cubs fan throughout his life.
He was former president of the Tazewell County Principals Association, was a former member of Pekin Moose Lodge #916.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
A member of the Lancaster Lodge # 106 A.F.& A.M., he was also a member and past Worthy Patron of Philippine Chapter #413 Order of the Eastern Star, both in Glasford.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2006 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military rites will be provided by the U.S. Army Reserves.
