Melissa Kennedy was born Nov. 22, 1852 in Vanange county, Penn., and passed from this life Sunday, April 8, 1917, being 64 years, 4 months and 17 days old. She became the wife of Thomas Abbott at Pontiac, Ill., on August 18, 1875. To this union were born six children, three of whom survive, namely, Mrs. Walter Girch, Scott and Benjamin Abbott of Johnstown, Neb. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Angeline Jaycox, of Golden, Colo.
Deceased came to Nebraska with her husband 38 years ago, and all this time had resided in Furnas county. She was a member of the Relief Corps of Arapahoe.
