Sallie Maud Perdue Wheeler Reedy, 82, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2006. She was born August 28, 1923 in Franklin County, Va. She was the daughter of Taylor and Lora John Dillon Perdue Jefferson Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Perdue; her sister and brother-in-law, Thelma Jefferson (Warren) Mitchell; her former husband, Allen T. Wheeler. Surviving her are her eight children and their spouses, Lora Leatrice Whitbeck and her fiancé, Robert (Bob) Bolling, Mary (Bobby) Tarter, Allen Marshall Wheeler, Patricia (Frank) Plunkett, Thomas (Janet) Wheeler, Dorothy (Jeff) Goad, Richard and Johnny Wheeler; her beloved ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters-in-laws, Louvenia Perdue Hildrecht, Lillian (Horrace) Harris, Geneva Drewery; and a host of Dillon/Perdue cousins, nieces, nephews; a special friend, Ward Alls; and all of her friends at Elm Manor Apartments. Our special thanks to our youngest sister, Dorothy, who was Mom's loving live-in caretaker for the final month of her life. Also thanks to the staff and nurses of Good Samaritan Hospice Service and at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bradley Free Clinic, 1240 Third Street, SW, Roanoke, Va. 24016. Visitation will be held Tuesday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Gills Creek Baptist Church (formerly Crossroads Baptist Church) in Franklin County at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
