Fred W. Carlson Sr., of 1450 Sterling Ave., Joliet IL passed away on Monday, October 25, 1971 at the age of 75. Born in Wheaton IL, he was a lifelong resident of Joliet. Mr. Carlson served in the Army in France during World War I.
Mr. Carlson was a conductor for the EJ&E Railway for over 50 years, retiring on January 22nd, 1963. Fred began his "J-Service" on September 9th, 1913 as a messenger in the Agent's office and then worked as a trackman and timekeeper in the Maintenance of Way dept. He became a brakeman in January, 1917 and was promoted to conductor in May 1923.
