Charles Martin "Chuck" Diehl died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, in Dallas, Texas, after prolonged illness.
Mr. Diehl was born Feb. 25, 1959, in Casper, Wyo. He moved to Alamogordo when he was 10 years old.
Chuck graduated from Alamogordo Senior High School in 1977. He spent his high school years as a dedicated trumpet player in the Tiger Band. He continued his education at New Mexico State University, where he majored in electrical engineering and computer science. After college, he worked at White Sands Missile Range and later in Santa Fe as a computer programmer.
Later, he entered the "high-tech" technology communications business in El Paso. It was during these years that he and others founded the extremely successful Dallas, Texas-based company "Efficient Networks," which later afforded him other technology-based opportunities. Chuck utilized those opportunities to expand his passion for music and form other companies that included Clearpath Post & Audio, PaperTrail Networks and Jacea Networks Corp.
He was a visionary in his field and a phenomenal musician. He used his resources to support many different charitable organizations and projects, including the total restoration of a German ME-108 Messerschmitt "Taifun" (N2231) - belonging to the Commemorative Air Force - into flying condition. He loved cars, cooking, music, art, photography and, most importantly, his friends. Chuck loved spending summers in Wyoming. He described himself as "definitely an extroverted growth teacher with a broad spectrum of interests and a student of many disciplines."
He is survived by his mother Frances Diehl, of Alamogordo; sisters Lorena "Lori" Diehl, of Albuquerque, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Diehl, of Sunspot; and two half-brothers, Alfred Cordova, of Tularosa, and Jesse "Philip" Cordova, of Tesuque.
He is also survived by his nieces Annette, Michelle and Verlinda Mae Cordova, of Tularosa, and Dara Montoya, of Tesuque; nephew Jared Cordova, of Santa Fe; four great-grand nieces/nephews, Gabriel Briggs and Stephanie Cordova, of Tularosa, and Chae and Jett Montoya, of Santa Fe.
He was preceeded in death by his father Charles N. Diehl, of Alamogordo.
Immediate services are not scheduled. He will be cremated and the family will hold a private gathering at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ME-108 Restoration fund (N2231) of the Commemorative Air Force and mailed to his mother Frances Diehl at P.O. Box 1363, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
