Mrs. Margaret Kerkove, a resident of this county for nearly forty years, died yesterday monring at two o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Haubrich, with home she had made her home for eight years. She was taken ill four months ago, and had been bed fast since that time. Her death was caused by the infirmities of advanced age. She was born in Germany, June 30th, 1844, and at the age of twelve years came to this country, and settled in Iowa county, Iowa. She was united in marriage to John Kerkove, and they resided on a farm one and a half miles south of Hatfield, for a number of years. Her husband passed away twenty nine years ago, and she continued to resided on the farm with a son for a time. Since his marriage she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Haubrich, the greater share of time.
She is survived by five sons, Peter of Sigourney, Iowa; Louis and John, of North English,Iowa; George, of Jessup, Iowa; Joe of Gresham, Oregon; and three daughters, Mrs C L Olson,of Oldham, SD; Mrs. A L Wagner, of Mason City, IA; and Mrs J W Haubrich, of near Hatfield. Several children preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at St Leo's catholic church with burial in the catholic cemetery. It is expected that all the children will be present to attend the funeral services, the the exception of Joe Kerkove who will be unable to attend because of illness.
