OBITUARIES

Woodson William "Woody" Bets, Jr., died Oct. 31, 2013, at the age of 70.
Woody was a dedicated husband and father and was well-known in the community as an avid bowler.
He and Judith Laverne "Judy" Adams were married in 1967 and raised their blended family in the Ostrander area in Kelso.
Although bowling was Woody's favorite sport, he also enjoyed fishing, camping and family barbecues. Woody was also known as the man next door who would offer to help his neighbors in need.
He worked at Weyerhaeuser Co. for 45 year and retired in 2009. Before and after retirement, Woody could be found at the local bowling alley cheering on his grandson Zack Betz to be the best bowler he could be. He also helped youngster such as Zack's older brother Jeremy Whitton and numerous other young bowlers.
Woody is, and always will be, greatly missed by his wife, Judy; his son and his wife, who were with Woody in his last moments; two daughters and their husbands, as will many others who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his fathrt, Woody Sr.; and a stepson, Michael Thompson.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Steele at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory.
