Formerly of Des Plaines, entered everlasting life with Christ on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Ruth was born on January 7, 1924 in Chicago, to Anne and Arne Sletner. On December 29, 1945 Ruth married Roy W. Blanchard, following his discharge from the US Navy. Compassionate, fun and caring, Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends. Ruth enjoyed baking, reading, dancing and traveling, and she was very proud of her Norwegian roots. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy W. in 1993 and her sister Helene Marie (late John) Paulsen in 2000.
